Democratic presidential hopeful Hillary Rodham Clinton said Friday that every child born in the United States should get a $5,000 “baby bond” from the government to help pay for future costs of college or buying a home.
…I don’t believe she is actually proposing using magic pixy dust from Area 51 to give a $5,000 savings bond to every baby. However she’s also not saying that it’s the worst idea since unsliced bread. Which it is.
It’s such a dumb idea, George McGovern already proposed it. If Jimmy Carter wasn’t busy dodging killer rabbits and appeasing the extremist elements in the middle east in the 70’s, he would have proposed the same thing.
Hey…if $5,000 is good why not $50,000? How about $5,000,000?
There are philosophical arguments here about socialism, who foots the bill for the $5,000 plus interest and the vast chasm between the appreciation for what is given and what is earned. There is also this article which is one of many that draw the same conclusion.
The reality is that 70 percent of all lottery winners will squander away their winnings in a few years.
I politely ask the Democrat party to grow up and enter the real economic world. Or just shut the hell up. That would be okay too.

What’s frightening is that there are people that will actually think this is a great idea and will vote for her because of this. They have rich envy and are perfectly content to have stuff taken away from others and given to them. It’s owed to them. Along with healthcare.
I can actually see people hearing $5000 everytime you have a baby, not understanding that it’s not cash you get payable on delivery. It will be put into a “lock box”
